Artists we’re currently working with on various projects:
Currently working on their third album for 2014, we’ve been privileged to work with Speak Galactic across two releases so far, in September 2012 we put out album number 2 “Severed” (preceded by a 2-track download single “Precautionary Measures”) then followed that up with 2013’s split 12″ with P for Persia “Aegis Arctic Alp” (co-released with super good Brighton labels Fcking The Night & Beatabet).
Now a trio of Owen Thomas, Jim Morrison and Alex Painter, we first saw Speak Galactic (at the time Owen’s solo project) at the One-Inch Badge ‘Sea Monsters’ festival in January 2010, then off the back of that asked him to support at the Jeniferever show we put on at the Green Door Store the following April. Since then they’ve gone from strength to strength, playing at Playgroup Festival, Alternative Escape & Beatabet Binge whilst also supporting the likes of Laetitia Sadier (Stereolab), Damo Suzuki and Ensemble Economique amongst others. Current upcoming dates include Supernormal Festival 2014.
Artists we’ve worked with in the past:
One of the most far-our and exciting bands Brighton currently has to offer, we were delighted to work with these glitchy noise-mongers alongside their regular label Beatabet & Fcking The Night for 2013’s split 12″ with Speak Galactic “Aegis Arctic Alp”. They’re currently working on their new album due for release later this year on Beatabet, keep your eye on them!
In what will hopefully be the first part of a long-lasting relationship between CM and Tyrannosaurus Dead, we put out the debut EP from Brighton/London-based alt-rockers Tyrannosaurus Dead in November 2011. They’ve moved on to work with Reeks of Effort & Odd Box Records for the moment but we’re all firm friends and it’d be lovely to work with them again.
In 2007 we put out the ‘Tiger Diamonds’ EP with down-tempo drum & bass rising star Kicking Nines (limited copies still remain in our shop, grab one now before they run out of print). We had a heap of fun working with him on this, go grab his latest self-released album ‘Rookie Manoeuvres’ for free over on his Bandcamp.
In 2010 we put out the long-awaited ‘Donkey Riding’ EP (sold out) by these Welwyn Garden City-based anarcho folk-punk legends and we’re hoping to continue to work with them in the future!
Featuring the irrepressible and legendary Mark Astronaut (of fellow CM band ‘The Astronauts’), The Otters have been making a collective noise since 2003 and have a string of extremely well-received EPs and Singles behind them now. In 2007 we put out the ‘Be Back Soon’ CD Single/EP as our very first release. Now long sold-out, it’s now available for free download alongside some other Otters/Astronauts bits on Bandcamp.
